Libre, a platform focused on the tokenization of real-world assets (RWAs) across multiple blockchains, has announced its plan to tokenize $500 million worth of Telegram-issued corporate bonds on The Open Network (TON). This development will give institutional investors their first decentralized entry point into Telegram’s fixed-income offerings.
The initiative will be executed through a new vehicle called the Telegram Bond Fund (TBF). According to Libreโs announcement, this fund will grant qualified investors access to a slice of Telegram’s $2.4 billion corporate debt. Moreover, TBF tokens will be usable as collateral within TON’s DeFi infrastructure, enabling yield generation and access to lending or borrowing platforms.
Demand for Tokenized RWAs Is Rising
The tokenized RWA market has surged to over $18.9 billion, marking an 89% increase from the $10 billion recorded a year ago, based on data from RWA.xyz and PRIME. While corporate bonds remain underrepresented in this sector, Libre’s partnership with the TON Foundationโwhich backs the blockchain linked to Telegramโs 1 billion+ monthly usersโaims to shift that balance.
Libre has already tokenized more than $200 million in institutional assets from leading firms like BlackRock, Brevan Howard, and Hamilton Lane. These assets were launched on blockchains such as Injective, a Binance-supported Layer 1. Libre now plans to extend these offerings to the TON ecosystem, according to Chairman Jez Mohideen.
Looking ahead, Libre is also introducing a solution dubbed “Gateway”, allowing users to invest in RWAs directly using fiat currencies or stablecoins via TON-native wallets. This added layer of flexibility is expected to further integrate traditional finance with TONโs decentralized tools.
A Milestone for Blockchain-Based Fixed-Income Products
โThe Telegram Bond Fund launch is a significant step toward bringing regulated real-world assets to TON,โ said Max Crown, CEO of TON Foundation and co-founder of MoonPay. He emphasized that this integration bridges traditional finance with Telegramโs growing Web3 ecosystem.
