Offchain Labs, the core development team behind Arbitrum, has introduced Onchain Labs, a new initiative aimed at fostering on-chain application development.
Launched in collaboration with the Arbitrum Foundation, this program is designed to support early-stage developers and teams by providing technical expertise and go-to-market assistance. Leveraging Arbitrum’s rapid block times and Stylus compatibility, the initiative seeks to strengthen the Layer 2 ecosystem.
According to Offchain Labs, Onchain Labs will assist projects from ideation to launch, offering strategic guidance and product development support. However, only those projects that commit to fair and community-aligned launches will be eligible, distinguishing the initiative from extractive ecosystem models.
While some of these projects may be experimental, Offchain Labs remains committed to advancing decentralized applications. The first Onchain Labs-supported project is expected to be announced soon.
Offchain Labs’ Continued Expansion in Ethereum Layer 2
Since launching Arbitrum One in 2021, Offchain Labs has introduced various scaling solutions, including:
- AnyTrust chain for optimized security,
- Orbit for permissionless chain deployment,
- Universal Intents Engine for enhanced interoperability.
The company also acquired Prysm in 2022, strengthening its Ethereum-focused infrastructure. Additionally, it expanded its Tandem partner studio and venture arm to accelerate innovation.
Future Developments and ARB Token Accumulation
Offchain Labs is actively working on:
- Increasing network throughput via an alternative client,
- Integrating zero-knowledge proofs,
- Enhancing user experience for Ethereum Layer 2 applications.
The company previously secured $120 million in Series B funding in 2021. More recently, it unveiled a strategic purchase plan to add ARB tokens to its treasury, further reinforcing its commitment to the Arbitrum ecosystem.
