Metaplanet, a Tokyo-listed investment firm, has added $12.5 million worth of Bitcoin to its portfolio, reinforcing its commitment to digital asset accumulation.
The company revealed on Tuesday that it acquired 150 BTC at an average price of $83,508 per Bitcoin. With this latest purchase, Metaplanetโs total Bitcoin holdings now stand at 3,200 BTC, valued at approximately $265.9 million based on current market prices.
Alongside its Bitcoin acquisition, Metaplanet raised 2 billion yen ($13.3 million) through bond issuance on Tuesday to further its BTC accumulation strategy.
Since adopting a Bitcoin-focused investment approach in April 2024, the firm has been aggressively increasing its holdings. Its long-term goal is to reach 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025 and 21,000 BTC by 2026.
Stock Performance and Market Impact
Metaplanetโs stock closed 0.49% lower at 4,030 yen on Tuesday. However, the company has recorded a 15.8% gain year-to-date and an astonishing 1,819% increase over the past year, according to Yahoo Finance.
Meanwhile, Japanโs Nikkei 225 index rose 1.2% on the same day.

At the time of reporting, Bitcoin was trading at $83,116, reflecting a 0.2% decline for the day, according to PRIMEโs price tracker.
As Metaplanet continues its Bitcoin accumulation strategy, the firm remains one of the most prominent institutional investors betting on the long-term value of the cryptocurrency.
