Semler Scientific (Nasdaq: SMLR) has made another major move into Bitcoin, acquiring 185 BTC between May 23 and June 3 for approximately $20 million, according to a recent Form 8-K filing submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
The Bitcoin purchase was funded through capital raised via Semler’s at-the-market (ATM) stock offering, launched in partnership with major financial firms including Barclays, Cantor Fitzgerald, Canaccord Genuity, Craig-Hallum, Lake Street Capital Markets, and Needham & Company.
So far, Semler has sold over 3.5 million shares, bringing in around $136.2 million in net proceeds, which have been funneled into strategic Bitcoin accumulation.
$467 Million in Bitcoin Holdings and Counting
As of June 3, the company holds 4,449 BTC, currently valued at approximately $467 million. The average purchase price per coin stands at $92,158, resulting in an unrealized profit of about $57 million, after accounting for fees and expenses.
With these holdings, Semler ranks 15th globally among corporations in the Bitcoin treasury leaderboard, based on data from PRIME.
Semler Joins the Growing List of Bitcoin-Focused Corporations
Semler Scientific is part of a growing wave of companies embracing Bitcoin as a strategic treasury asset. The list of recent adopters includes Trump Media, GameStop, K33, and Paris Saint-Germain, all of whom are taking cues from the corporate Bitcoin strategy pioneered by MicroStrategy.
Other notable companies with substantial Bitcoin treasuries include Tether-backed Twenty One, Metaplanet, Nakamoto, and KULR.
BTC Yield as a Shareholder Value Metric
To evaluate its Bitcoin investment performance, Semler uses a proprietary key metric called BTC Yield — a measure of the percentage change in the ratio of BTC holdings to outstanding diluted shares. Year-to-date, Semler has recorded a BTC Yield of 26.7%, signaling a strong return on its crypto treasury strategy.
