Securitize, a leader in real-world asset tokenization, has unveiled a major new crypto investment product for institutions: the Mantle Index Four (MI4) fund. The launch comes in partnership with Mantle, which is committing a substantial $400 million anchor investment into the fund โ the largest such commitment ever made to a tokenized institutional vehicle.
The MI4 fund is designed to mirror a traditional market index, offering exposure to a diversified basket of top-tier digital assets, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), and U.S. dollar-backed stablecoins. According to the official announcement, asset allocation is based on market capitalization and risk-weighted models โ a strategic move positioning MI4 as a crypto analog to the S&P 500.
Smart Beta Meets On-Chain Yield: The Institutional Crypto Solution
To optimize returns, MI4 implements quarterly portfolio rebalancing and incorporates staking strategies using platforms like Mantleโs mETH and Bybitโs bbSOL, among others. This combination of passive index exposure and active yield generation is designed to meet growing institutional demand for efficient crypto asset management without direct custody concerns.
โMI4 is built for institutional capital seeking on-chain exposure with smart beta and yield components โ in a plug-and-play format,โ said Timothy Chen, Global Head of Strategy at Mantle.
The Largest Tokenized Fund to Date
With Mantleโs hefty $400 million investment, MI4 has now surpassed Securitizeโs previous record-holder, the $148 million Blockchain Capital III Digital Liquid Venture Fund (BCAP), making it the largest tokenized institutional fund to date.
The fundโs debut is timely, aligning with a significant expansion in the tokenized real-world asset (RWA) sector, which has seen its on-chain value more than double over the past year. According to RWA.xyz, the market grew from $9.8 billion in April 2024 to over $21 billion currently.
Tokenized private credit remains the dominant asset class within this space, with $12.5 billion in value, followed by U.S. Treasury-backed tokens totaling approximately $6 billion.
Securitize Expands Fund Services with Key Acquisition
Further solidifying its position in the tokenized finance space, Securitize recently acquired the digital asset fund administration division of MG Stover. This acquisition strengthens Securitize Fund Services, the firmโs division focused on helping companies raise capital through tokenized securities and modern fund structures.
As the tokenization of real-world assets accelerates and institutional adoption deepens, Securitizeโs MI4 fund stands out as a bold step toward bridging traditional finance with the emerging crypto economy โ offering an efficient, diversified, and income-generating investment solution tailored for professional investors.
