Linea, the Ethereum Layer 2 network backed by Consensys, temporarily paused block production early Wednesday morning. The disruption occurred around 1:25 a.m. ET, stopping at block 23,145,386. Operations were restored at 2:32 a.m. ET, leaving a 67-minute gap in activity.
Although Linea has not publicly shared the root cause, the team confirmed through its status page that the problem was identified and resolved quickly. This ensured block production could safely resume.
Outage Ahead of Linea’s Token Generation Event
The downtime comes at a critical time, just before Linea’s token generation event (TGE) scheduled for today. The event will see an airdrop of more than 9.36 billion LINEA tokens distributed to eligible wallet addresses.
Airdrop Claim Details
Holders can claim their airdropped tokens for 90 days, starting September 10 and ending December 9. After this period, any unclaimed LINEA tokens will revert to the Linea Consortium Ecosystem Fund, which is dedicated to supporting both the Linea and Ethereum ecosystems.
