The official X account of EigenLayer, a restaking protocol, has reportedly been hacked, according to several online sources.
Blockchain investigator ZachXBT alerted his Telegram followers, stating, “EigenLayer X/Twitter account is currently compromised, do not click any links.” The attack appears to involve a fake post promoting a fraudulent reallocation of EIGEN tokens, linked to Season 2 of EigenLayerโs airdrop for stakeholders.
Crypto anti-scam platform Scam Sniffer identified that the post included a malicious link. Following the initial post, two more posts were sharedโone urging users to make a claim and a third labeled as the “final call.” However, the official Season 2 airdrop ended in September, and no new claims are available.

Polygon Labs’ Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), Mudit Gupta, also warned, “EigenLayer Twitter has been compromised. Do not click any links. There’s no new airdrop.” DeFiLlama echoed similar warnings regarding the compromised account.
The protocol allows users to deposit and stake ether (ETH), which is then allocated to secure third-party networks or actively validated services (AVSs). PRIME Team has reached out to the Eigen Foundation for further comment.
This isn’t the first instance of high-profile social media hacks being used to promote cryptocurrency scams. Recently, the X accounts of well-known figures and brands such as Hulk Hogan, Metallica, Doja Cat, and McDonald’s have also been compromised.
