A blockchain developer says Turkish authorities accused him of assisting in the “misuse of Ethereum,” sparking debate and skepticism within the crypto community.
A blockchain programmer, widely known online as “Fede’s intern,” has alleged that he is currently in Turkish custody under accusations of helping others “misuse Ethereum.” The Argentina-based developer, who specializes in zero-knowledge (ZK) technology and Ethereum infrastructure, stated on social media platform X that he is being held in Izmir, Turkey.
On Sunday, the developer claimed that Turkey’s Minister of Interior personally accused him of facilitating illicit Ethereum-related activities and that authorities confined him to a single room.
“It’s obviously wrong — we are just infrastructure builders,” he wrote, adding that he was willing to cooperate with investigators.
Legal Support and Possible Departure to Europe
In follow-up posts, “Fede’s intern” confirmed he is receiving legal assistance and might be able to leave Turkey for Europe soon. He said he would share full details once he is outside the country and cleared by his legal counsel to speak publicly.
Skepticism Within the Crypto Community
While the exact charges remain unclear, several users on X expressed doubt over the incident. One user, “0xCenk,” stated there was “zero legal basis” for detaining someone under such allegations. In response, the developer insisted his claims were genuine, writing:
“I don’t know what I gain by making this up.”
Links to Blockchain Projects
According to his public profile, “Fede’s intern” is affiliated with various crypto ventures, including Lambda Class (an investment firm) and Aligned (a blockchain solutions company).
PRIME has reached out to Turkish authorities, Lambda Class, and the Ethereum Foundation for comment. As of now, the situation remains a developing story.
