NBCUniversal is joining forces with Aptos Labs to introduce Backlot Club, a next-generation fan engagement and rewards platform. The initiative expands an existing strategic partnership between the two companies, leveraging the Aptos Layer 1 blockchain to connect fans through digital rewards collected online and at live events.
A spokesperson told PRIME that the platform provides “a glimpse of how one of the worldโs largest media companies is experimenting with blockchain infrastructure beyond NFTs or collectibles.”
Backlot Club was reportedly piloted during Universalโs Halloween Horror Nights 2025, where it facilitated an “on-chain scavenger hunt.” Participants earned digital medallions tied to both physical and virtual rewards, all powered by Aptos-based assets.
Expanding a Multi-Year Blockchain Collaboration
This launch builds on prior collaborations between NBCUniversal and Aptos, which have already explored web3 fan engagement initiatives for films such as Renfield and The Exorcist: Believer. The partnership aims to expand blockchain-based games, loyalty programs, and intellectual property experiences for Universalโs fanbase.
Built on Aptosโ Decentralized Media Platform
Backlot Club integrates digital and real-world fan interactions using Watchee, Aptosโ decentralized operating system designed specifically for media applications. The platform represents a significant step toward mainstream blockchain adoption in entertainment, offering fans immersive experiences that blend physical events with on-chain rewards.
